Male Athlete of the Week
SAIT Trojans men’s cross-country runner Matthew Travaglini captured his second-straight Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) cross-country running national championship this past weekend at the event hosted by Seneca College just outside Toronto.
Travaglini navigated the slippery-at-times conditions to finish the 8-kilometre race in a time of 26:19 – a full 63 seconds better than the second-place finisher.
With national title grabs in both 2017 and now 2018, Travaglini becomes the first male runner to win back-to-back championships since Lethbridge College’s Wily Kimosop won three-straight from 2008-10.
Matthew Travaglini is a Geomatics Engineering Technology student at SAIT.
