Tammy Sherbinin - Women's Volleyball

Tammy Sherbinin was a member of the Women's Volleyball Team for the beginning of the 1997-98 season. Tammy had a very positive impact on the entire volleyball program at SAIT. She was recruited from Castlegar, British Columbia and quickly became a very strong ambassador for the SAIT Women's Volleyball program.

Tammy played two matches as a starting middle blocker versus the Briercrest Bible College Clippers. They were the first matches of the 1997-98 season and unfortunately the last for Tammy.

On November 7th, 1997, while driving to a match at Mount Royal College, Tammy was involved in a very serious car accident nearly taking her life. She was left in a coma for 3 weeks; therefore, did not play the remainder of the season with the Women's Volleyball team, and was eventually forced to withdraw from school.

Tammy's accident shocked the entire Athletic Dept. at SAIT and even the ACAC. Letters, and cards were sent to the Women's Volleyball team from opposing teams, and several Trojan Athletes were curious about her recovery. Tammy was greatly missed and the Women's Volleyball team struggled in her absence.

Tammy spent the better part of two years in and out of the hospital, and to this day still visits an occupational therapist on a daily basis. Tammy's recovery has been phenomenal. She is a very kind-hearted person and is the true definition of a "Trojan." She is Courageous, Determined and full of Spirit. This is evident in her miraculous recovery.
