Ray "Rocky" Herrington

Rocky started as a volunteer with the SAIT Trojan Hockey Team in the 1987-88 season. During this time he volunteered as an Assistant Coach (1987-89) and Team Manager (1989-Present). Rocky is also the President of the Calgary Booster Club and has operated various fundraising projects including social gatherings at "Rocky's Penalty Box Lounge". All proceeds from these projects have been donated back to the Trojan Hockey Team.

Perhaps Rocky's interest in Athletics came from his extensive boxing background: A former Alberta Golden Glove Champion (1962-63), Canadian Boxing Champion (1963), and Canadian Army Boxing Champion (1963-64), also went to the Olympic Trials for boxing (1964).

In addition to boxing, Rocky placed 6th in a 26 mile Marathon for the Canadian Armed Forces with a time of 2 hours and 52 minutes. Rocky also coached Junior B hockey in Grande Center, Alberta and coached "AA" Midget hockey in Comox, B.C. - the 1975-76 North Island Champions of Vancouver Island.

In 1993, Rocky's accomplishments were acknowledged by the Canadian Armed Forces when he was inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame. Rocky's philosophy is "when given a job, do it fully with your heart!"
