William (Bill) C. Ranson - Trojan Athletic Foundation President

Wall of Distinction Inductee - Spring 2009

Bill Ranson joined the Board of Directors of the Trojan Athletic Foundation in January of 1994 and became the Chairman and President of the Foundation in January 2000. Since that time, Bill has raised more than a million dollars in support of Trojan student athletes through the Trojan Athletic Foundation scholarship program. Bill has practised law in Calgary since 1977, had his own firm for 15 years, and has been with Miles Davison LLP since 2002. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2008.

Bill guided and implemented changes to the Trojan Athletic Foundation to address the registration of proper corporate structure and compliance under the Alberta Societies Act.

The transition away from bingo fundraising was a priority for the Foundation during Bill's tenure. Changing economic realities required new directions.

With the able and longstanding assistance of Michelle Tremblay and the diligent work of Rob Richardson, Bill developed a new constitution for the Trojan Athletic Foundation, positioning it for future growth and success.

Bill and his wife Maureen are long time Calgary residents and have three children, Joanna, Alexa and Will who are very active in the Calgary sporting community.

Bill Ranson is inducted with honour and appreciation into the SAIT Trojans Wall of Distinction as a Builder.
