2010 CCAA Men's Basketball National Championships Logo Design Contest
Introduction
The SAIT Trojans are pleased to announce logo design contest for the 2010 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Basketball National Championships. The winning logo will receive a $1000.00 prize in addition to the honor of having the artwork on all of the promotional materials, souvenirs, letterhead, t-shirts, web site, press releases, advertisements, and other materials produced for the CCAA Men's Basketball 2010 National Championship event.
SAIT is hosting the 2010 CCAA Men's Basketball Nationals from March 18-20, 2010. The tournament will consist of the winning teams from each conference: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces. The five CCAA conferences are BCCAA, ACAC, OCAA, Sport Etudiant and ACAA. There will also be the host team, SAIT, and two wild card teams selected by the CCAA participating in the tournament.
All submissions must comply with the contest rules in this fact sheet. Please read all contest rules carefully before submitting any material for this contest.
The Logo should include the following:

CCAA colours (red, white and blue) are preferred

Participation:
The design competition is open to all SAIT and ACAD students & staff.
Design Considerations and Submission Format:
1. Simple enough to print well on letterhead, advertisements, t-shirts, banners, etc.
2. Detailed enough to be interesting and should fax well.
3. Equally interesting in color and in black and white.
4. Must be able to resize easily.
5. Rendering: High resolution, print-ready, scalable vector format (EPS or Adobe Illustrator AI)
6. JPEG or PDF with a resolution of 640 x 480 (min 500 ppi).
7. The logo should work well alongside or in conjunction with the logo for SAIT Trojans (see below).
Process:
1. Submission deadline: August 1, 2009. All entries must be submitted electronically to joni.inman@sait.ca
2. No purchase, registration fee, or monetary donation is required to enter or win this contest.
3. All entries must include, with its submission, the following information: Designer's name, address, phone number, preferred e-mail address and a brief narrative about logo design concept, description, and inspiration. Any failure to include this information may lead to disqualification from the competition.
4. The designer of the winning logo will be notified by November 15, 2009. The winning logo and designer will be announced on the SAIT Trojan web site located at www.sait.ca/trojans. Local media outlets in the Calgary area will also be notified.
Ownership of Logo and Submissions:
1. All rights, title, and interests in and to the designs submitted (including the winning logo) become the exclusive property of the SAIT Trojans, including, but not limited to, the copyright associated with each design. No submissions or designs will be returned to the submitting party.
2. The winning designer will execute agreements acceptable to the SAIT Trojans to assign all rights, title, and interests in and to his or her design to the SAIT Trojans as a condition of receiving the cash prize in this contest. Refusal to execute these agreements will result in a different winning design being selected and no payment of the cash prize being awarded to the party refusing to sign.
3. By submitting a logo for entry in the competition, the Designer acknowledges that he / she is:
(a) The person that made the logo and is the rightful owner of the design, and that the design is an
original design work free from any liens and encumbrances.
(b) The designer certifies that the logo does not infringe upon the rights of any third party and does not
violate any applicable laws, regulations or legal requirements, or the rights of any third party.
(c) The SAIT Trojans are not responsible for lost, delayed, damaged submissions, or the content of
any submission by any party.
(d) Any submissions which do not comply to all of the contest rules may be disqualified without notice.
(e) The designer has read and agrees to comply with all of the contest rules in this fact sheet.
Judging:
1. Creativity, originality, aesthetics, use of space, and color will be used to measure the logos merit.
2. The SAIT Trojans will determine the winner of this contest in its sole discretion, and its decision will be final and binding. No right of appeal or objection is provided.
3. The SAIT Trojans reserve the right to re-open the competition if the judges do not determine a winner from the entries received.
