Ken Babey is currently the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at SAIT. During the past ten years at SAIT, he has overseen the Trojan Athletic program which includes 10 varsity sports with 200 student-athletes; as well as the intramural program (approximately 2000 participants), the Trojan Summer Camp program and the physical education courses.
His accomplishments at SAIT include the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the department; planning and implementing a women's hockey program; restructuring and re-staffing of the department; developing corporate and community partnerships; implementing the Trojan Outreach Program; and upgrades to the campus centre sports facilities (including the team rooms and the soccer field). Ken also brought the sports of curling and women's soccer at SAIT back into the Conference and started the club programs of Women's Fastball, Senior Men's Baseball, and Cheer and Stunt. During his tenure, the Trojans have won won 18 Conference Championships, along with 3 Gold, 6 Silver, and 2 Bronze Medal at the Canadian National Championships.
A former student athlete (hockey) at the University of Saskatchewan, Babey earned a Bachelor of Education degree and went on to attain a Master of Science degree in Health and Human Performance from The University of Montana in 1993. Babey began at SAIT as an instructor and head coach for the Trojans Men's Hockey Team in 1987 and was named Athletic Director in 1996.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; he and his wife, Debie, have three children, TJ, Joey, and Jaclyn.
