Now in his 22nd season as SAIT'S head coach, Ken Babey is the dean of the ACAC coaching fraternity. Ken holds the ACAC record for most wins as a coach. Babey was also head coach of the Gold medal winning Canadian Men's National Under 18 team at the Four Nations Cup (2000) and an assistant coach with the gold medal winning Canadian Men's National Team at the Slovakia Cup (2003).
The Saskatoon native is also SAIT'S Athletic Director & has served as a guest coach with Canada's National Team (1990-98) and a coach to Japan's National Jr. Team (1996). Babey was an assistant coach with team Alberta at the 1997 World Under 17 Championships. In 2007, he guided Denmark to gold at the IIHF B Pool World Championships. He was the head coach of Denmark Men's National Jr. Team at the 2008 World Jr. Championships & an assistant coach with Denmark Men's National Team and the 2008 World Championships.
The 1999-2000 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) Coaching Award of Excellence recipient guided SAIT to Gold at the 2000 CCAA Championships and Silver at the 1992 & 1997 CCAA Championships. The seven time ACAC Coach of the Year recipient also has a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Saskatchewan & a Master's Degree in Physical Education from the University of Montana.
Ken is currently the SAIT Athletic Director. He and he wife Debie have three children TJ, Joe and Jaclyn.
